managing partners Jeff Schaffer
and David McReynolds and is
comprised of seasoned investment
professionals with expertise in
designing and funding financial
transactions with creative,
win-win structures. And, we are
a uniquely valuable partner for
owners, management and
intermediaries due to our
ability to provide capital
solutions across a broad range
of structures, circumstances,
company and transaction sizes,
and industries with industry
leading expertise.
Bios:
- Jeffrey Schaffer is the
Founder and President of Five
Crowns Capital, Inc., currently
serves as the Chairman of the
Board and CEO of American Sand &
Gravel, Ltd., and has been a
director on numerous other
boards. He is an experienced
private equity professional who
has sourced, executed, managed
and exited many investments
during his career. Prior to
founding Five Crowns Capital in
2003, Mr. Schaffer was the
Managing Director of Private
Equity for The United Company, a
privately-held Virginia-based
corporation founded in 1970. The
diverse, multi-billion dollar
portfolio included companies in
energy, manufacturing,
distribution, pharmaceuticals,
real estate, financial services
and golf. As an executive
officer, Jeff served on the
company's Operating and
Investment Committees and was
President of Scratch Golf
Company. Prior to joining The
United Company in early 1999,
Jeff was a principal at Marwit
Capital, a Southern California
based private investment fund
with a forty-year history
focusing on equity and
subordinated debt investments in
closely-held companies. He has
also held senior positions at
Price Waterhouse Coopers and the
H.J. Heinz food company. Mr.
Schaffer is a member of the
Young Presidents Organization,
and a Certified Public
Accountant (inactive) in
California. He earned a B.S.
degree in Business
Administration from the
University of Southern
California, and an M.B.A. with a
dual major in Finance and
Strategic Management from The
Wharton School, University of
Pennsylvania.
- David McReynolds has
over 15 years of experience in
originating, evaluating,
advising, structuring and
investing in middle market
transactions. Over the course of
his career, he has participated
in private equity, corporate
divestitures and carve-outs,
special situations lending, M&A
advisory, leveraged buyout
lending and corporate finance
transactions. Mr. McReynolds was
previously with private equity
firms Twin Haven Capital
Partners and Versa Capital
Management, each with nearly $1
billion in capital under
management. Prior to this, he
was a Principal and head of the
Los Angeles office of the
Special Situations Group within
American Capital, Ltd., a
publicly-traded investment
company (NasdaqGS: ACAS) with
$20 billion in capital under
management at the time of his
employ. Mr. McReynolds was a
founding partner of Signature
Capital Partners, LLC n/k/a
Signature Group Holdings (OTC:
SGGH.PK) and a Director of
Acquisitions for Republic
Financial Corporation, both
special situations and private
equity investment firms. Mr.
McReynolds is a frequent speaker
at industry leading conferences
on the topics of private equity
investing and lending. He is
actively involved with
professional organizations and
is the immediate Past-President
of the Southern California
Chapter of Turnaround Management
Association. He also served as
Co-Chair for the 2011 Turnaround
Management Association Annual
Convention in October, 2011. Mr.
McReynolds is an AIRA Certified
Insolvency & Restructuring
Advisor (CIRA) and a member of
the Milken Institute Young
Leaders Circle. Mr. McReynolds
received his M.B.A. from the
University of Chicago Booth
School of Business and B.S. from
the University of California at
Santa Barbara.
- Ryan Sacco has been
making traditional LBO and
growth equity investments in
middle market companies for more
than 10 years. Over that period,
Mr. Sacco has completed eight
acquisitions and participated on
six Boards of Directors. Prior
to Five Crowns, Mr. Sacco was a
Vice President in American
Capital's Private Equity Group
and also was a Principal at
leveraged buyout firm Riverside
Partners. Mr. Sacco started his
career as a strategy consultant
at the Boston Consulting Group
and Treacy & Company, where he
helped a variety of companies
set and execute long term
strategic plans. Mr. Sacco also
served as an Acquisition Officer
in the United States Air Force
Reserve, attached to the Air
Force Electronic Systems Center.
Mr. Sacco earned a BS in
Economics, BS in Systems
Engineering, and an MS in
Systems Engineering from the
University of Pennsylvania and
an MBA from Harvard University.
